NC AgVentures, is an NC State Extension program provides grants to farmers and Community Groups that work with family farms. Over the past 3 years this program, supported by the NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission, has awarded 189 grants and invested $1.46M in family farms. This cycle the program will fund a minimum of 50 projects with an application cap at 250 submissions.

This is a great opportunity for any agriculturally dependent Anson County farmer interested in diversifying, improving, or expanding their operation. NC AgVentures is seeking viable ideas for new, innovative, and sustainable agricultural projects.

Farmers markets and farming associations within the eligible counties are also able to apply with collaborative projects that will directly benefit 3 or more family farms in the community. It should be a local non-profit. Examples would be a livestock association applying to purchase corral equipment for members to share/rent. Or a local farmers market applying for a grant to update the facility. The grant maximum for individual or community grants is $8,000. Grant recipients will provide 15% cost-share (cash not in-kind) of the total project.

Applications are accepted Oct. 15 – December 15, 2023. Eligible counties include Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Anson, Ashe, Cabarrus, Caswell, Catawba, Chatham, Davidson, Davie, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Forsyth, Gaston, Granville, Greene, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Iredell, Johnson, Lincoln, Martin, Mecklenburg, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Pitt, Randolph, Rockingham, Rowan, Sampson, Stanly, Stokes, Surry, Union, Vance, Wake, Wayne, Wilson, Wilkes, Warren, and Yadkin.
